Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Wednesday, led governors from the North East to a gathering with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The assembly centered on key infrastructure and financial issues within the area, together with the completion of 17 main street tasks and the resumption of oil exploration at Kolmani and Lake Chad frontier wells.
The governors current had been Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Bala Muhammad (Bauchi), Mai Mala Buni (Yobe), Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa) and Agbu Kefas (Taraba).
Zulum, who chairs the North East Governors’ Discussion board, urged the president to prioritise the roads, together with Kano–Maiduguri Street, Port Harcourt–Jos–Bauchi–Maiduguri Railway line, Bama–Mubi–Yola Street, Wukari–Jalingo–Yola Street, Bauchi–Gombe–Biu–Damaturu Street, Damaturu–Geidam Street, Gombe–Potiskum–Damaturu–Biu Street, Maiduguri–Monguno–Baga Street and Maiduguri–Ngala–Bama–Banki Street, amongst others.
He careworn that finishing the tasks would increase commerce, agriculture, and safety throughout the six states of the area.
The governors additionally requested renewed federal help for oil exploration in Kolmani and Lake Chad, which they stated would assist diversify the area’s financial system and create jobs.
In his response, President Tinubu assured the delegation of his administration’s dedication to addressing infrastructure gaps and financial improvement within the North East.
