Udu, Delta State – July 31, 2025:
The Coalition of Udu Civil Society Groups has reiterated its commitment to the development of Udu Local Government Area while firmly distancing itself from political affiliations.
At an enlarged meeting held on Thursday, July 31, the Coalition restated that its formation was driven by the need to attract development to Udu and to highlight what it described as years of state-sponsored neglect and marginalisation of the people.
In a statement jointly signed by leaders of the various groups under the Coalition, the body stressed that it remains apolitical and denounced attempts by individuals and groups to associate its activities with any political party or aspirant.
“Our interest is basically the progress of Udu as we do not have the Udu people’s mandate to endorse any candidate for any political position ahead of the 2027 elections,” the Coalition declared.
The group also commended the intervention of notable leaders and expressed hope that the Delta State Government would urgently address the genuine demands of Udu citizens for better welfare and infrastructural development.
While appreciating communities and residents who participated in the recent peaceful protests across Udu, the Coalition maintained that its struggle is focused on ensuring equity, justice, and improved living conditions for the people.
