President Donald Trump on Saturday levied tariffs on eight European nations which have voiced their opposition to the US’ control of Greenland.
These affected are Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK. Most are broadly thought to be U.S. allies.
Trump acknowledged that America has been subsidizing Denmark, Europe, and nations on different continents for a few years by not charging them any kind of remuneration.
“It’s time for Denmark to provide again after centuries…World Peace is at stake!” the President wrote in a submit on Fact Social.
The U.S. chief reiterated his remark about China and Russia wanting Greenland, declaring there’s not a factor that Denmark can do about it.
Trump vowed no one can be allowed to the touch the “sacred piece of land,” citing the nationwide safety of the US and the world at giant.
He criticized latest journeys to Greenland by the leaders and officers of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK “for functions unknown.”
Beginning on February 1, 2026, the nations shall be charged a ten% tariff on all items shipped to the U.S. The tariff shall be elevated to 25% from June 1, 2026.
“This tariff shall be due and payable till such time as a deal is reached for the entire and complete buy of Greenland,” Trump affirmed.
Trump accused the governments supporting Greenland of enjoying a “very harmful recreation,” saying their actions “have put a degree of danger in play that isn’t sustainable.”
To guard international peace and safety, it’s crucial that robust measures are taken to finish the “probably perilous scenario,” the President stated.
Trump added that the U.S. has been making an attempt to impact his newest motion for over 150 years. “Many Presidents have tried, and for good motive, however Denmark has all the time refused,” he wrote.
