This continued refusal to implement voluntarily signed agreements is undermining public tertiary establishments and eroding confidence within the system.
“The graduation of the two-week warning strike by the ASUU is a direct consequence of the Federal Government’s failure to honour these collectively bargained agreements. The strike isn’t an act of defiance however a respectable response to years of neglect and unfulfilled guarantees.
“Slightly than partaking in good religion to resolve the disaster, the federal government has resorted to the unproductive threat of ‘No Work, No Pay.’ This narrative is deceptive.
“The breach of contract lies with the state, not the students. Lecturers are keen to work, however the authorities’s constant failure to fulfill its obligations has made it unattainable for them to take action with the dignity and circumstances their career deserves. The precept stays clear: No Pay, No Work.
“This wrestle transcends an extraordinary industrial dispute. It highlights a broader societal injustice — a deliberate weakening of the general public schooling system whereas the youngsters of the elite attend personal establishments at dwelling and overseas.
