Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command on Saturday arrested the leader of a notorious armed robbery syndicate terrorising residents of Ifo Native Authorities Space and its environs.
The suspect, 32-year-old Lekan Anuoluwapo, was arrested alongside his feminine companion, 33-year-old Ajoke Kareem, at about 12:40 am in the Oloshe space of the native authorities.
The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, informed DAILY POST that the suspect and his gang had been terrorising residents of Agosi, Previous Financial institution Space, Olomu Highway, Oju-Sango, Folam, Oloshe Highway, Ikorita, and Ajowa communities in the Ifo axis.
Odutola acknowledged that the syndicate was linked to a number of incidents, together with that of a resident who was shot in the chest and robbed of his valuables.
She mentioned, “Two robbery circumstances have been immediately linked to the syndicate. On seventeenth October 2025, at about 0630 hours, two armed males attacked a girl who was sweeping the church premises in preparation for morning prayers and dispossessed her of purse containing an unspecified quantity of cash.
“One Wale Adeleye, who later confessed to committing the robbery alongside Lekan Anuoluwapo with the use of a domestically made pistol, was arrested.
“Equally, on twenty fifth October 2025, at about 0300 hours, armed robbers attacked a resident at gunpoint and carted away valuables, together with an influence financial institution, an Infinix cellphone and a POS machine. The sufferer was shot in the chest when he raised alarm through the assault. The robbers fled the scene, abandoning a domestically made pistol with an empty cartridge.
