A suspended and now expelled Nationwide Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Occasion, PDP, Samuel Anyanwu, had described the current celebration nationwide convention as a jamboree and illegal.
Anyanwu made this assertion in an interview on ‘Sunday Politics’, a programme on Channels Tv monitored by DAILY POST just a few hours after the PDP expelled him and different chieftains of the celebration.
Recall that the PDP held its nationwide convention on Saturday, the place a former Minister of Particular Duties, Kabiru Turaki, emerged as the brand new Nationwide Chairman of the celebration.
Reacting, Anyanwu stated, “16 states had not even achieved their congresses; your entire South-East has not achieved their congress, suggesting that each one that occurred on Saturday was a jamboree. Even those achieved earlier haven’t been communicated to INEC.”
He added that, with the absence of a number of states from the convention, the occasion, which ran from Saturday to early Sunday, can’t be stated to be all-inclusive.
“Once I heard anyone yesterday on the convention, after they had been celebrating, having their jamboree, saying that we should obey the foundations of the celebration, I laughed,” he stated.
DAILY POST recollects that PDP held its 2025 convention between Saturday and Sunday, expelling the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike; a former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose; Anyanwu, its nationwide secretary; and others for anti-celebration actions.
It additionally dissolved celebration buildings in Imo, Abia, Enugu, Akwa Ibom and Rivers states.
A chieftain of the PDP, Bode George, moved the movement for the expulsion of 11 key members, citing what he described as actions inconsistent with the celebration’s collective curiosity as causes for the transfer.
The PDP chairman in Bauchi State rapidly seconded the movement.
The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, put the vote ahead for members to undertake and ratify the expulsion of these concerned, and it was unanimously accepted.
