The Osun State Home of Assembly on Monday handed the 2026 Draft Appropriation Invoice, valued at N705 billion, for second reading throughout its plenary session in Osogbo.
The invoice progressed after the Home Majority Chief, Adewumi Babajide, introduced the coverage thrust of the proposed budget.
Adewumi defined that the elevated budget measurement was supposed to help infrastructural improvement and different crucial state tasks.
“The growth of the budget is to cater for ongoing infrastructural improvement and important tasks throughout Osun State,” he stated.
Lawmakers contributing to the talk described the appropriation invoice as one aimed toward strengthening financial and infrastructural progress. They urged its immediate passage to allow easy authorities operations within the coming fiscal 12 months.
Speaker of the Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, aligned with the views expressed by members. He assured that the invoice would obtain due legislative consideration, including, “The Home will give this invoice the eye it deserves in keeping with our guidelines.”
Egbedun cited Order 95, subsection 5(b) of the Home Standing Orders, saying that the invoice could be referred to the Home Committee on Finance and Appropriation for detailed examination. He directed the committee to attract up a timetable for the budget defence classes, throughout which ministries, departments and companies of presidency are anticipated to seem.
“All MDAs have to be ready to defend their allocations earlier than the committee,” he stated.
The Speaker disclosed that the budget defence train would run from November 24 to December 4, permitting lawmakers time to scrutinise the figures and proposals. He emphasised the significance of strict adherence to the timetable to make sure well timed consideration and passage of the budget earlier than the top of the 12 months.
