Justice James Omotosho has barred IPOB chief Nnamdi Kanu from using digital devices, together with telephones and computer systems, whereas serving his life sentence for terrorism.
Delivering judgment in Kanu’s trial, Justice Omotosho described him as a terrorist whose actions had resulted in bloodshed and destabilisation throughout the South-East.
He stated, “From the proof I’ve analysed, the convict has beforehand used digital devices, together with telephones, to broadcast messages that incited atrocities.
“Based mostly on this, I totally agree with the prosecution that he should not be allowed close to any digital system. If entry is important, it should be carefully monitored by the Workplace of the Nationwide Safety Advisor.”
Justice Omotosho added that, owing to the dimensions of Kanu’s actions, the killings, and the toll on the folks of the South-East, he needs to be positioned in protecting custody. The court docket ordered that Kanu be held in protecting custody at any appropriate custodial centre in the nation.
