The Senate has formally sworn in two newly elected senators, Joseph Ikpea and Emmanuel Nwachukwu, representing Edo Central and Anambra South senatorial districts, respectively.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio presided over the ceremony throughout plenary on Wednesday, with the Clerk of the Senate, Emmanuel Ojo, administering the oaths of workplace and allegiance to the new lawmakers.
DAILY POST studies that she swearing in follows current by-elections carried out to fill two vacant Senate seats, one beforehand held by Monday Okpebholo, now Governor of Edo State and the opposite by the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who handed away in July 2024.
Previous to the ceremony, the Senate briefly relaxed its guidelines to permit relations and dignitaries into the chamber to witness the occasion.
Among the many excessive profile visitors had been former Delta State Governor James Ibori, former Edo State Deputy Governor and Director Common of the Nigerian Institute of Sports activities Philip Shuaibu and different outstanding political figures.
Akpabio charged the new lawmakers to diligently examine and abide by the senate standing guidelines.
