The Gombe State governor, Inuwa Yahaya, has appointed the spokesperson of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission because the chairman of the state’s electrical energy regulatory fee.
This follows Governor Yahaya’s institution of Gombe electrical energy and digital financial system commissions and the appointment of their chairmen.
The creation of the Gombe State Electricity Regulatory Commission, GOSERC, and the Gombe State Data Expertise and Digital Economic system Commission, GIDTEC, goals to strengthen regulation, promote innovation, and speed up financial transformation within the state.
The approval was introduced by the Secretary to the State Authorities, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, following the governor’s assent to the payments establishing the 2 commissions, granting them full authorized authority to start operations.
Governor Yahaya additionally permitted the appointment of Dr. Usman Abba Arabi, Basic Supervisor of the Public Affairs Division on the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, as chairman of GOSERC.
Dr. Al-Amin Umar Barambu was appointed Chairman of GIDTEC.
The governor acknowledged that the appointees possess the expertise and experience required to successfully drive the mandates of the newly created commissions.
He defined that the institution of GOSERC aligns together with his administration’s energy sector reform agenda, significantly in harnessing alternatives underneath the Electricity Act to strengthen regulation, enhance service supply, appeal to personal sector funding, and broaden entry to dependable electrical energy throughout Gombe State.
Equally, the creation of GIDTEC underscores the federal government’s dedication to constructing a technology-driven and digitally aggressive financial system, with a concentrate on ICT growth, digital innovation, abilities acquisition, e-governance, and youth employment.
Governor Yahaya urged the newly appointed chairmen to use professionalism, integrity, and dedication in constructing sturdy, responsive, and results-oriented establishments that may ship tangible advantages to the individuals of Gombe State.
Each appointments will take impact from January 2, 2026.
