Abia State authorities has been urged to strengthen its Bureau of Public Procurement, BPP to stand independently for good governance, transparency and public trust.
The decision was made by members from media and Civil Society Organizations, CSOs throughout a sensitisation coaching organized in Umuahia by the Rule of Regulation and anti-corruption program, ROLAC.
The members, who famous that procurement processes should align with the wants of the individuals, stated that there was a necessity for contracts to be revealed to strengthen transparency.
They argued that contracts shouldn’t be awarded with out being made open for aggressive bidding, whilst they posited that contracts shouldn’t be awarded till a ‘Certificates of No Objection’ is offered.
The members within the workshop who suggested that contracts not be above monetary threshold, additionally cautioned that an organization with out monetary capability shouldn’t be given a job to execute in Abia.
They added that initiatives ought to include warrantees and sturdiness assurances whilst they urged all stakeholders to play their advisory and supervisory roles for good governance in Abia State.
In his speech, Mission Coordinator of ROLAC in Abia State, Mr Peter Omenka stated this system was organized to help good governance in Abia State and to advise the state the place mandatory, noting that the European Union and the Worldwide IDEA supported the workshop.
