Five persons have been arrested for vandalising transmission lines belonging to the Transmission Firm of Nigeria, TCN, in Upu group, Otukpo Native Authorities Space of Benue State.
The suspects have been arrested by native vigilantes whereas vandalising a transmission line.
This was contained in an announcement on Thursday by the TCN.
The corporate mentioned the vandals had attacked the Otukpo-Yandev 132-kilovolt (kV) single-circuit transmission line on November 3.
“The Transmission Firm of Nigeria (TCN) needs to tell the general public that the continuing effort geared toward defending its infrastructure is starting to yield success with the arrests of 5 suspected vandals from Upu Group in Otukpo Native Authorities Space of Benue State by native vigilantes whereas vandalising the Otukpo-Yandev 132kV Single-Circuit transmission line on November 3, 2025,” the assertion reads.
“The suspects have been caught in the act whereas vandalising towers N16 and N17 in ASA 3 Group, with injury executed extending to eight different towers alongside the road.
“Consequently, the suspects with dismembered components of the towers and different supplies recovered have been handed over to the Benue State Police Command for investigation and prosecution.”
The TCN mentioned the broken part of the road has been remoted and bulk energy restored to Yandev, Wukari, Takum, and Kashimbila transmission substations by way of the Apir substation.
The corporate added that the Otukpo substation is being back-fed from the New Haven substation.
The TCN counseled the chairman of Otukpo LGA, Hon.Maxwell Ogiri,group leaders, youths, and members of the native vigilante group, for their help in facilitating the arrest of the vandals.
It pledged to take care of and strengthen its collaboration with the group to make sure the continued safety of its important transmission infrastructure in the world.
