The administration of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki, has expelled three students over alleged illegal possession of firearms.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Michael Awoke, introduced their expulsion throughout the inauguration of the newly elected Students’ Union Authorities executives for the 2025/2026 session, held on Friday.
Professor Awoke said that the choice was taken to function a deterrent to others, warning that the period of cultism was over within the college. He pressured that anybody discovered responsible of cultism, examination malpractice, or in possession of weapons supposed to intimidate students or workers could be expelled instantly.
The three expelled students had been reportedly arrested with weapons and dwell ammunition throughout the current Students’ Union Authorities election within the college.
The administration recognized the expelled students as Azubike Lawrence of the Division of Medical Laboratory Science; Enyinnaya Ibe Kenneth of the Division of Structure; and Njoku Joshua of the Division of Animal Science.
