The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has accused Governor Dauda Lawal of planning to deploy political thugs to affect Saturday’s State Home of Meeting bye-election in Kaura-Namoda South Constituency.
In an announcement on Thursday in Gusau, APC Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris, alleged that the governor meant to use the outlawed Yansakai vigilante group to intimidate voters in favour of the Peoples Democratic Get together, PDP.
Idris claimed members of the group had been sighted on the Authorities Home, Gusau, the place they have been allegedly being given uniforms and firearms just like these of the state’s safety watch group.
He stated the get together had petitioned safety companies, urging them to make sure solely the police, Division of State Companies, DSS, and Nigeria Safety and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, have been deployed for the ballot.
Reacting, the governor’s Particular Assistant on Media and Communication, Mustafa Jafaru, denied the allegations, insisting that political thuggery had been banned within the state.
