The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Chibuzor Simeon Amadi, has declined to represent a seven-member panel to examine allegations of gross misconduct against Governor Sim Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Ordu.
In a letter dated twentieth January 2026, addressed to the Speaker of the Rivers State Home of Meeting, Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, Justice Amadi cited two courtroom orders barring him from receiving, forwarding, or contemplating any requests to kind such a panel.
The orders have been served on his workplace on sixteenth January 2026 and stay in pressure.
The Chief Judge emphasised that constitutionalism and the rule of legislation require all authorities to obey subsisting courtroom orders, no matter their notion of the orders’ validity.
He referenced authorized precedent, noting that in an analogous case in 2007, the Chief Judge of Kwara State was condemned for ignoring a restraining courtroom order when setting up an investigative panel, a call later voided by the Courtroom of Enchantment.
Justice Amadi additional noticed that the Speaker has already filed an attraction against the courtroom orders on the Courtroom of Enchantment, including one other layer to the continuing authorized proceedings surrounding the allegations.
