Former Nigeria international Sam Elijah has disagreed with comments made by former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh, who claimed that Nigeria’s bronze medal on the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) was not value celebrating.
Recall that Nigeria gained the bronze medal in Morocco after defeating Egypt within the third-place playoff final weekend.
Talking with Footy-Africa, Elijah insisted that Eric Chelle’s facet deserved recognition for his or her achievement.
“I don’t agree with him that the bronze medal isn’t value celebrating,” Elijah informed Footy-Africa.
“If Oliseh have been the coach, would he say his group shouldn’t be celebrated after enjoying good soccer and capping it with a medal?”
In the meantime, the Super Eagles is not going to take part within the 2026 World Cup match, scheduled to start out in the summertime, after shedding to DR Congo within the playoffs.
